Two 15 ml bottles that make the gentlest facial blend in the range: lavender, soft and familiar, and geranium, rosy and green, traditionally used in oils for combination skin. Both steam-distilled and undiluted. Geranium is also the affordable way to bring a rose-like note into a blend without buying rose otto.

What’s in this set

Oil Botanical name Extraction Plant part Size
Lavender Lavandula angustifolia Steam distilled Flowering tops 15 ml
Geranium Pelargonium graveolens Steam distilled Leaves 15 ml

Why lavender and geranium

  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) — The all-rounder of any collection. Soft, floral and familiar — traditionally used to wind down in the evening, and the one oil most people reach for first in a diffuser.
  • Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) — Rosy and green at once. Traditionally used in facial oils for combination skin, and the affordable way to bring a rose-like note into a blend.

How to use

Facial oil. 1 drop of each into 10 ml of jojoba — a 1% dilution — pressed into clean skin at night.

Body oil. 2–3% in a carrier oil after a shower.

Diffuser. 3 drops lavender to 2 drops geranium, for a floral room that is not sweet.

Roll-on perfume. 5 drops lavender and 3 drops geranium in 10 ml jojoba.

Safety & storage

  • Never apply undiluted essential oil to skin. Dilute in a carrier oil first.
  • Patch test on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours before wider use.
  • Not to be taken internally. Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets. Consult a doctor if pregnant, nursing or under medical care.
  • Store upright in the closed amber bottle, away from sunlight and heat. Flammable — keep away from open flame.

Frequently asked questions

Are these two suitable for oily or combination skin?

Geranium is the one traditionally used in oils for combination skin, and lavender is about as widely tolerated as an essential oil gets. Both still need diluting to 1% for the face, and both still need a patch test.

Is geranium the same as rose?

No, but it is the reason people call it a rose substitute. Pelargonium graveolens has a rosy, green scent at a fraction of the cost of rose otto.

Can I apply these directly to my face?

No. Dilute to 1% for facial use — about 1 drop per 5 ml of carrier oil or unscented moisturiser. Undiluted essential oil on facial skin is the most common mistake beginners make.

How do I patch test?

Put a diluted drop on the inside of your forearm, leave it 24 hours, and check for redness or itching before using it on your face.

Can I use these on sensitive skin?

Start at 0.5–1% dilution and patch test. Skip citrus oils before sun exposure — cold-pressed citrus is photosensitising.

Can I mix them into my existing serum or moisturiser?

Yes, and it is the simplest way to start. Add 1–2 drops to a palmful of unscented moisturiser rather than to the whole jar, so you can adjust.
