Two 15 ml bottles that pair the best-known scalp oil with the most Indian of base notes: rosemary, herbaceous and stimulating, and vetiver — khus — smoky, cooling and deeply grounding. Steam-distilled and undiluted. A hair blend for people who want something less obvious than rosemary and cedarwood.

What’s in this set

Oil Botanical name Extraction Plant part Size
Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis Steam distilled Leaves 15 ml
Vetiver (Khus) Vetiveria zizanioides Steam distilled Roots 15 ml

Rosemary and khus

  • Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) — The reason most people buy a hair set. Herbaceous and sharp — traditionally massaged into the scalp in a carrier oil as part of a weekly hair-care routine.
  • Vetiver (Khus) (Vetiveria zizanioides) — Khus. Smoky, cooling and deeply grounding — the scent of summer khus screens, and a base note that anchors any blend it joins.

How to use

Scalp oil. 2 drops rosemary and 1 drop vetiver per 10 ml of carrier oil. Massage in, leave 30–60 minutes, shampoo out.

Summer blend. Vetiver alone at 1% in coconut oil, the way khus has traditionally been used through Indian summers.

Evening diffuser. 3 drops vetiver on its own. It is one of the deepest, most settling aromas in the range.

Dilution guide

Use Dilution Drops per 10 ml carrier oil

Safety & storage

  • Never apply undiluted essential oil to skin. Dilute in a carrier oil first.
  • Patch test on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours before wider use.
  • Not to be taken internally. Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets. Consult a doctor if pregnant, nursing or under medical care.
  • Store upright in the closed amber bottle, away from sunlight and heat. Flammable — keep away from open flame.

Frequently asked questions

Vetiver is thicker than the other oils — is that normal?

Yes. Vetiver is a root oil and is naturally viscous and slow to pour, especially in cool weather. Warm the bottle in your hands for a moment.

Do I need to dilute rosemary oil before putting it on my scalp?

Yes. Essential oils are concentrates, not hair oils. Mix 2–3 drops per 10 ml of a carrier such as jojoba, coconut or almond oil — roughly a 1–2% dilution — and massage that into the scalp.

How often should I use it?

Most people settle on twice a week. Massage in, leave for 30–60 minutes or overnight on a towel, then shampoo out.

Can I leave it in overnight?

Yes, once it is diluted in a carrier oil. Do a patch test behind the ear first, and use an old pillowcase.

Does rosemary oil actually work for hair?

It has a long traditional history in scalp care and is one of the most-used oils in the category. We do not make medical or regrowth claims for it — if you are dealing with significant hair loss, that is a conversation for a dermatologist.

Can I add these to my regular hair oil bottle?

That is the easiest way to use them. Add 10–15 drops to a 100 ml bottle of your usual carrier oil, shake, and use as normal.
