Turmeric & Holy Basil (Tulsi) Essential Oil Set of 2 — Everyday Wellness
Couldn't load pickup availability
Two bottles — 15 ml or 30 ml — of the most familiar plants in the Indian household, in a form most people have never used them in: steam-distilled essential oils of turmeric root and tulsi leaf. Warm and earthy against green and peppery. Undiluted, supplied as two separate bottles. Note that these are aromatic distilled oils — not the powder, and not a supplement.
What’s in this set
| Oil | Botanical name | Extraction | Plant part | Size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turmeric | Curcuma longa | Steam distilled | Roots | 15 or 30 ml |
| Holy Basil (Tulsi) | Ocimum sanctum | Steam distilled | Leaves | 15 or 30 ml |
Two Ayurvedic staples, distilled
- Turmeric (Curcuma longa) — Warm, earthy and rooted in Ayurveda — the distilled oil of the root, not the kitchen powder. Used aromatically and in well-diluted skin oils. It can stain, so dilute and patch test.
- Holy Basil (Tulsi) (Ocimum sanctum) — Tulsi — the plant in the courtyard of countless Indian homes, distilled. Green, peppery and clove-like, traditionally associated with everyday wellbeing.
How to use
Diffuser. 2–3 drops of each. Earthy and green rather than sweet — a very different room to a citrus blend.
Massage oil. 1–2% in sesame or coconut oil, the way traditional abhyanga oils have been scented.
Skin blend. Turmeric at 1% or below in jojoba. It can stain skin and fabric at higher strengths, so patch test first.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add these to food or drink?
No. Distilled essential oils are not food ingredients and are not to be taken internally, however familiar the plant is in the kitchen.
Is turmeric essential oil the same as turmeric powder?
No. This is the steam-distilled volatile oil of the root — aromatic, oil-soluble and highly concentrated. It contains none of the curcumin that gives the powder its colour and its dietary reputation.
What is tulsi oil traditionally used for?
Holy basil has been part of Indian household tradition for centuries, burned, brewed and grown at the doorstep for everyday wellbeing. The distilled oil is used aromatically and, well diluted, in massage blends.
Can I take these internally?
No. Essential oils are not to be swallowed, added to food, or taken in water.
Will turmeric oil stain my skin?
It can mark skin and fabric at higher concentrations. Keep it at 1% or below in a carrier oil and patch test first.
How do I use them together?
2–3 drops of each in a diffuser, or diluted to 1–2% in a carrier oil for massage.
